Dear Friends of Liberty,
What a great victory! You and I shocked the Congressional Leadership, the Administration, the lobbying world, and the so-called “pundits” in the media.
The two parties are playing the blame-game and trying to fault each other for the bill’s failure. We know the truth: your phone calls, emails, and faxes worked.
But the battle is not yet over. Although we won the first round, there will be more votes this week. The next vote in the House could come as early as Thursday, and the Senate is likely to act very soon as well.
And you can guarantee that arms are being twisted like never before. The DC establishment is used to getting their way, and they won’t take this defeat lying down. It’s a good possibility that the next bailout bill will be even worse, as the Leadership will try to include everything imaginable in order to persuade legislators to change their votes.
You and I must keep the pressure on. Check the vote tally to see what stand your representative took and then pick up the phone again.
Thank those that stood strong and urge them to continue to resist this unconstitutional power grab. They will need all the encouragement they can get.
Those that voted for this bill need to be reminded that this is just the beginning of the resistance they will face as their reelection bids near. They will have at least one more chance to stand with the Constitution, and it is still possible that they will do the right thing.
Enjoy the victory, but remember that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. The fight to reclaim our Republic and restore our Constitution is only beginning, and we will need to keep up the hard work and redouble our commitment if we are to achieve our goals.
In Liberty,
John Tate
